ALI FOR NM HD 44

Bugs Bunny is famous with locals for missing a turn in Albuquerque but Ali Ennenga stayed when she discovered the beauty of New Mexico while visiting her parents. Intrigued by the diversity in cultures and impressed with the warm nature of the people, Ali went to work for the children in our state. First, as an elementary school teacher and later, in the special education program at Ernie Pyle Middle School.

While teaching, Ali saw a need. Especially for students. Teachers were overwhelmed in the system and working hard for their students. But, politicians in Santa Fe seemed to be missing the point as the state continued to struggle, ranking in the bottom in education year after year. Ali decided she had the skills to promote positive change. She knew she was uniquely designed to serve her

community. Understanding student and teachers' needs, combined with a legal background, Ali set out to serve residents living in one of the newest legislative districts in New Mexico.

When elected, Ali plans to continue understanding how people in New Mexico Legislative District 44 want her to take their voices to Santa Fe.

"WHEN I'M ELECTED, I WILL WALK THE WALK WITH THE PEOPLE IN OUR DISTRICT. THAT MEANS MORE THAN WORDS ON A WEBSITE. THAT MEANS OPPORTUNITIES TO MEET FACE TO FACE AND HEAR YOUR CONCERNS."

Representatives must strive to better understand impacts of legal-ese written legislation on our citizens.

FINIS ORIGINE PENDET: The end depends upon the beginning. It is time to  refocus on the beginning for reasonable outcomes at the end.  All too  often Representatives write bills based on romantic ideals not  understanding how outcomes could actually burden our people. One needs  only to make a phone call to see a doctor or start a business in New  Mexico to feel the pain and weight of over regulation.

Good,  tax paying citizens should feel safe raising families and putting down  roots in the district. Close the border, stop catch and release  revolving door policies allowing hardened criminals repeated release  from jail. Fully fund and support local law enforcement in both  Bernalillo and Sandoval counties. That is a good start.

As  a teacher, Ali firmly believes that every voice offers valuable insight  and she plans to take those concerns to Santa Fe. As a paralegal, Ali  understands impacts of how legislation must be written for improved  outcomes. It seems our incumbents have lost focus on student needs to  learn.  Give teachers the time and full resources they need to teach  students in the classroom, and less time in administration meetings, so  teachers may do their job nuturing our children to learn and grow  mentally. Parents should always have a voice and access to how their  children learn. Transparency in the classroom. Open communication with  parents should be a clear priority.

Is it a simple solution? Reduce taxes and trust the people to spend their money wisely.

Instead  our legislators decided to add an unreasonable gas tax in the last  general session adding to already burdened citizens who are stuggling  just to buy groceries. Additionally, New Mexico is not known as a  business friendly state. The time is long over due to take a  magnifying glass to the New Mexico Gross Receipts Tax. It is all too  common to hear retailers taking a pass on our state due to the NMGRT  which claims a large percentage off their bottom line. And, if they do  consider our state, they all too quickly take New Mexico off the top  lists when they see our schools  turn out struggling students, our communities are impacted year after  year by high crime and medical support is in short supply.
